Icy conditions cause 55-car pileup in Massachusetts

Many residents in Massachusetts enjoy the wintertime. It is a time where individuals and families can play in the snow, ice skate, ski and snowmobile. While the winter season is a great time for outdoor activities, it is a time that generates many hazards on the roadways. Icy roads can make it difficult for motorists to travel, and winter weather conditions can be the cause of many automobile collisions.

The icy roads were the reason for a recent multi-vehicle collision. According to preliminary reports, a 55-car pileup occurred on the northbound lanes of Route 128 in Wakefield. Unfortunately, this was not the only large multi-vehicle crash, as several collisions occurred on highways in the region. All of these crashes were the result of the icy road conditions.

When the roads are icy, it can make it very difficult to travel; however, if a vehicle is traveling too fast for conditions, this could cause the driver to lose control of their vehicle. When a driver is negligent or reckless, this could be the cause of a serious or even fatal crash.

According to reports, several travelers were injured in this massive collision. Many were transported to the hospital for medical treatment. In this matter, it is possible for victims to file an action to recover compensation for losses and damages. If a single driver or multiple driver were the cause of the crash, that driver could be held accountable. A personal injury claim could help an injured victim recover compensation for expenses such as medical bills, lost wages and other related damages.
