Everyday, residents in Massachusetts travel in vehicles to get from one place to another. In some cases, individuals must operate a motor vehicle for their job. This can create risks, especially since driving includes many hazards. When drivers are not attentive or follow the rules of the road, they increase the chances of causing a car accident. This could result in serious injuries or even fatalities.
According to recent reports, the widow of a Massachusetts State Police trooper has filed a wrongful death suit against the driver that caused a fatal car crash this past spring. Reports indicated that the incident occurred when the negligent driver collided with the back of the trooper's cruiser on the Mass Pike.
The trooper suffered fatal injuries and did not survive the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with motor vehicle homicide and operating under the influence. Initial investigation concluded that the driver was high on marijuana during the time of the crash.
The surviving spouse of the trooper is seeking $20,000 in damages for the wrongful death of her husband. This suit could provide the widow with the compensation needed to cover expenses such as medical bills, lost wages, loss of companionship and other related damages.
The loss of a loved one is a difficult event to suffer. It is even more challenging when the negligence of another party is the cause of a loved one's death. In these matters, surviving family member have recourses and could seek compensation through a legal action.
