Drivers in Massachusetts understand the safe driving habits could help increase the safety of drivers and passengers on the roadways. Although upholding their duty of care while behind the wheel and following the rules of the road could prevent a car accident from occurring, it does not always prevent them from encountering a negligent driver. When a driver speeds, fails to check their blind spots, travels too closely to other vehicles, fails to maintain their lane or does not signal a turn or maneuver, a serious accident could ensue.
Massachusetts' authorities recently responded to a multi-vehicle collision. According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred on Interstate 290 in Marlborough and involved a car, a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck. Authorities believe that the collision happened when the driver of the automobile struck the tractor-trailer in the left-hand lane of the Interstate. This resulted in the pickup truck striking the car.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they transported the driver of the car, passenger of the car and the driver of the pickup truck to the hospital. All three suffered injuries, some of them serious injuries. No injuries were reported to the driver of the tractor-trailer.
Police were still investigating the crash and were unsure at last report what caused it. Once cause is determined, liability could be assigned to the driver or drivers that were at fault. In these cases, even if an injured driver was at fault, they could still recover damages due to comparative fault. This could help them file a personal injury claim and recover compensation for the damages and losses incurred from the crash.
Following a car crash, accident investigation is a crucial step to take place. This could help accident victims understand the cause and provide them with rights and remedies to address their injuries and damages caused by the incident.
