For people in Worcester, one of the last things they consider when they head out onto the road is being involved in a motor vehicle accident. Although the majority of drivers are cautious and keep an eye out for other vehicles and pedestrians, there is always the potential for a car accident. These can happen for a variety of reasons. Some are due to carelessness. Others are due to simple misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. No matter how the accident occurs, serious injury is always a danger.

A head-on collision sent four people to the hospital with various injuries. The accident occurred when a 2007 Toyota Matrix driven by a 69-year-old woman veered into the opposite lane of the roadway. It was then hit by a 2003 Ford Taurus being driven by an 83-year-old woman. The woman driving the Taurus had her five-year-old and 12-year-old grandsons in the vehicle. The children’s injuries are considered minor. Their grandmother is in more serious condition with neck and leg injuries. The driver of the Matrix was airlifted to the hospital with chest and abdominal injuries. The accident investigation is still trying to determine what made her cross the center line.

When there is serious injury in a car crash, the first priority is to get back to full health. This, however, can present a problem because injuries often require an extensive hospital stay, rehabilitation and perhaps long term care. All can cost a lot of money. There could also be lost wages and the inability to provide the companionship to loved ones as before. It’s imperative that a full investigation be conducted to determine what actually happened. Insurance companies might sound caring and concerned, but their main focus is controlling costs. Often, they offer a settlement early in the process to preclude a legal filing. That settlement is rarely enough to pay for the damage that has been done.

In this case, a vehicle crossed the center line of the road and caused a head-on collision. Four people were hurt as a result. With injuries and the possibility of large medical costs, litigation might be the only way to recover a sufficient amount of money to cover the expenses. Those who were hurt in this crash should immediately contact an experienced legal professional to discuss their case.
