Chain-reaction collision occurs on Oxford-Charlton line

A terrible accident occurred this week on the Massachusetts Turnpike, involving several vehicles and leaving several people with serious injuries.

The accident began when a pickup truck lost control on one side of the highway; it swerved into the median and then flipped over. After the vehicle settled, the driver and the passenger exited the vehicle… but that was only half of the accident.

In what likely happened in a matter of seconds, a sedan swerved around the pickup avoiding the two people on the road, when a big-rig entered the picture, striking one of the pickup’s passengers. According to the Massachusetts State Police, the individuals in the pickup truck, tractor-trailer and the sedan were all injured in the accident and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Imagine a car accident situation such as this one. After the collision is over, the victims are often left in the hospital fighting for their lives or undergoing procedures to repair non-life threatening damage that has been done. This whole while, the medical bills continue to add up to what can often be astronomical costs.

The victims may be left out of work for a significant period of time. By the time they recover, they have often run out of paid vacation time and sick time or their disability plans may not cover their family’s needs.

These are only some of the costs that damage awards in a personal injury lawsuit help to compensate victims for. Taking the time to find an experienced personal injury attorney in these complex cases can truly make a difference.
